Problem

For ten years Hope Ray had been developing a broad therapeutic framework to introduce and provide cohesive, standardised structure to a new field in psychology. The problem was that apart from fragmented bits of writing and short video, it existed mostly only in Hope’s head. Hope is gifted and has ADHD, so standard types of editorial guidance didn’t provide the concentration, synthesis and adaptability that she needed.

Elite guidance

Hope and I settled into fluid and adaptive methods of collaboration that suited Hope’s needs, usually working side by side in Google Docs while on a phone call together. At other times, segueing into discussion on strategy or pivoting so Hope could seize an opportunity. When the overwhelm or doubt got too great, I provided perspective and a pep talk that guided Hope to reorient in a productive direction.

Results

After a year and a half of working with me, Hope had written and published a highly rated magazine, created a website and a course, and outlined and started writing two books. More fundamentally, via countless discussions and my sharp questioning of fine points, Hope had vastly improved the organisation, clarification, and precise articulation of her ideas in their full depth and complexity.
